Salzburg Panorama Tours announce with great sadness that Charmian Carr passed away at the age of 73.

Carr played Liesl von Trapp in the movie “The Sound of Music” by Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1965 and performed the famous scene singing “Sixteen going on Seventeen” together with her screen boyfriend Rolfe in the gazebo. . It was considered one of the movie’s most charming scenes. Carr later wrote two books about her experiences: “Forever Liesl” and “Letters to Liesl”. Together with Anthony Perkins she went on to star in the television musical “Evening Primrose”. Later on she left show business and started working as an interior designer. She married a dentist and got two children.

The world-famous movie “The Sound of Music” tells the story of the Austrian Trapp family. After the death of the mother, the novice Maria (played by Julie Andrews) came to the Trapp family as a governess taking care of the seven half-orphans.
After her marriage with baron von Trapp (played by Christopher Plummer), they had three more children together so the family-choir was completed. Due to political reasons in 1938 the family fled to America and made a living from singing.
