There is a relatively new and very good highway all the way from Vienna to Budapest.
It will take us less than 3 hours to get there. Our first stop will be upon Gellert Hill at the Citadelle for a superb view of Budapest.
We will head down and cross the Danube via Elisabeth Bridge which was named after Empress Elisabeth and the name even preserved during the Communist regime. We will drive along the river banks up to Chain Bridge and drive up Buda Hill, the oldest part of the city with the architectural very interesting Hilton Hotel which was built into the ruins of an old monastery.
Now back to downtown to go for a walk on Vaci Utca, the pedestrian walk of Budapest. After a drive to city park with Hunyady Palace we head back to Vienna.
