The entire Viennese Cuisine waits for you

Vienna for gourmets

Heuriger in Vienna
Apple Strudel

Viennese cuisine is not only a culture in itself, it is also the only cuisine named after a city which is also very popular abroad. There is hardly a major city in the world where you cannot find an Austrian restaurant serving Viennese specialties.

Of world renown is the Wiener Schnitzel (breaded escalope), the Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) and the apple strudel, but also Tafelspitz (boiled beef), Backhenderl (breaded chicken) and Milchrahmstrudel (milk and creat strudel) have found many followers. The traditional Viennese cuisine is influenced by immigrants from the former K&K Monarchy. Viennese Gulasch is a variation on the Hungarian Gulasch, strudel finds its origins in Turkey, Golatschen (sweet pastries), Palatschinken (pancakes) and Knödel (dumplings) stem from the area of Bohemia.

Another part of the Viennese cuisine culture are the different style restaurants where you can sample these delicacies. You can visit Gaststätten (restaurants), "Wiener Beisl" (pubs), Schanigarten (on the sidewalk) or Heurige serving wine.

The best restaurant in Vienna, maybe even the best in Austria, is "Steierereck" in Vienna's city park. Awarded 4 toques by Gault Millau you can experience the best of the best here. Also worth mentioning with Gault Millau rating are the Silvio Nickol Restaurant in Palais Coburg, Mraz & Sohn, Vestibül or restaurant Vincent which is rated with a Michelin star.

If you prefer an informal atmosphere you will enjoy spending an evening in restaurants like "Griechenbeisl", the "Wiener Rathauskeller", the "Augustinerkeller", the "12-Apostelkeller" or the "Bermudabräu".
In the outer districts you will find the "Heurige", the wine bars where you can enjoy more local delicacies like roast pork and black pudding with fresh young wine.

In our package "Fairytale Culinary" we cover various aspects of Viennese cuisine. In addition to 3 nights in a 4 star hotel you will enjoy a wine tasting in "Villon", the oldest winery in town. On top of that you get the chance to enjoy Vienna's coffeehouse culture in Cafe Demel and we invite you to dine in the gourmet restaurant Pfarrwirt. And finally we round off the experience with a tasty breakfast with magnificent views served in a car in the Ferris wheel in the Prater.
