Romantic Paris of the East

In Love in Budapest

In Love in Budapest
Szechenyi Spa Budapest

It is not for nothing that Budapest is called the Paris of the East - as a city of romance it is in no way inferior to Paris. It offers a romantic palace a romantic palace in the city's park, romantic thermal baths in the middle of the capital, idyllic alleys and squares in the castle district and much more.

You can start a romantic stroll with your sweetheart on the Heldenplatz, wander through the city park to end at the Vajdahunyad palace, a place that invites one to dream. Here, beside the lake, a perfect place has been created for lovers. After your walk you could recover your strength in one of the best restaurants of the capital, the Gundel restaurant, where you must try by now internationally famous Gundel-Palatschinken (pancakes).

Also situated in the city park is the Széchenyi spa, which especially in the evening is ideally suited for couples. Popular amongst families during the day, in the evenings it becomes an oasis with romantic lighting for those searching for peace and quiet - for a massage it is advisable to book in advance.

Discover the romantic alleys of the castle district - you can really enjoy being in love while strolling from the Coronation Church past the Fischerbastei, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Buda Palace. If you find yourself in the castle district in the late afternoon / early evening we suggest a stop in the House of Hungarian Wine that houses a special shop that sell wines from the twenty two Magyar wine districts.

Those wanting to follow the footsteps of the world-famous imperial lovers, Franz Joseph and Sisi (rulers of the Austrian Hungarian Empire, King and Queen of Hungary) can do this not only in Vienna, but also in Gödöllö, close to Budapest. The palace, given to the royal couple by count Andrassy in the name of the Hungarian people, was one of Sisi's favourite places, as here she could escape the rigid rules of the Austrian court.

Another possibility to spend time with your beloved and still see something of the Pearl of the Danube is an evening boat ride. Enojy a candle light dinner with live music on the modern ship "Legenda" while taking in the panoramic views of the illuminated city throught the ship's windows.

Or let the hotel prepare a picnic basket for you, filled with delicacies from the kitchen and a bottle of Törley, and whisk your darling away to the green lung of the city, the Margaret Island. Here you can find many secluded spots so far from the city's bustle or enjoy a few romantic hours in the island's Japanese gardens (get someone to explain the way, the entrance is hard to find).
