Passing the old baroque city of Salzburg and crossing the German border, the tour takes you straight into the Alps to our first stop the Obersalzberg. From there you will change into reserved special busses taking you on a most spectacular 6.5 km long single lane road blasted out of solid rock with a 22% gradient up to the Eagle's Nest, 1.820 meters. To reach Hitler’s former residence you enter a 124 meters long tunnel into the mountain where a golden brass elevator will take you another 124 meters up into the building itself.

How long does the private Eagle's Nest Tour last, and what does the itinerary include?

The private tour lasts about 4 hours. It begins at Obersalzberg and then continues by special bus to the Kehlsteinhaus at an elevation of 1,834 meters, including a private guided tour (in German or English) through the building and its historic fireplace room.

What is the story behind the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest)?

The Kehlsteinhaus was built as a gift to the NSDAP for Adolf Hitler's 50th birthday and was used for state occasions at the Obersalzberg, which was then the Third Reich's secondary seat of government. It remained undamaged during World War II and is today one of the few surviving structures from that era. Since 1960, it has been used as a mountain restaurant.

When is the Kehlsteinhaus open, and how do you get there?

The Kehlsteinhaus is open seasonally, depending on weather conditions. It is generally open from early May through October 31. The drive up involves a 6.5-kilometer mountain road with a gradient of up to 22 percent, as well as a 124-meter-long tunnel with a brass elevator.

Because of the opening period of Eagle's Nest, the tour is only available from May till end of October.
