A movie, a musical and a family returns!
According to the slogan 'Welcome home' the celebrations on 50 years 'The Sound of Music' were just perfect, amazing and very emotional.
On Saturday the 17th of October the city of Salzburg celebrated the anniversary of the world wide success of “The Sound of Music”, a movie who has since years a huge impact on the international image of Salzburg. Fans from around the world came especially for the gala to celebrate their favorite movie and it´s actors.
The stars of the evening
Members of the Trapp family and five of the famous actors from the film returned to Salzburg to participate in the celebrations of the world success.
Host of the evening was Uwe Kroeger, who embodies besides Milica Jovanovic (Maria von Trapp) the role of the Baron (Georg von Trapp) in the popular musical representation of the Landestheater Salzburg.
In addition to the best-known songs such as "Do-Re-Mi", "Climb Every Mountain" and of course "Edelweiss" there was some other surprise events. A highlight was the presentation of the wax figure, which was made in honor of the actress Julie Andrews, who played in the film of 1965, Maria Rainer. Representatives of "Madame Tussauds" showcased the new wax figure of the actress in "Sound of Music" costume, which can now be seen a week in Salzburg Mirabell Gardens. Afterwards fans can admire the waxworks in Vienna from all over the world.
For the grand finale the audience sang together a medley of favorite numbers from the film. For this purpose, a large crowd of children stormed the stage and animated everyone to sing along. Under laburnum and raging applause, the audience thanked all artists to the successful show.
